Halloween Cakes

My friend Kevin asked for me to make his twin daughters' birthday/halloween cake. His wife, Megan, told me that she was using monsters themed decorations from a certain chain store. As such, I decided to try my hand at molding one of those little monsters.

The inside is a layer cake with strawberry filling in between each layer. The eyes, horns, and legs are made from rice crispy treat.

For my own Halloween party, I decided to make a similar layer cake representing the movie Ringu where a ghost named Sadako climbs out of a well to attack.

First Entry!

I've been working on cakes at a bakery here in town for quite some time, but now I'm trying to work on a portfolio for the next year. Wish me luck!

I want to create amazing cakes! At this point, I'm begging my friends to let me bake for them. It helps to know at least some people will be eating what you're making. I already have a few things lined up for the year, including holidays and a couple of birthdays.

Photobucket

This one is very simple, using real strawberries and roses. I did it for friends a while ago.

I'm hoping for here on out to be successful in making gum paste figures and my own fondant! I'll be cataloging it all here.
